What is SarahStrings.com?
Weekly Lessons and daily practice videos |
Sarah developed SarahStrings for families who prefer to learn their music lessons in a non-live setting. Each Level in SarahStrings includes 12 weekly lessons that expand into 4 days per week of directed, video recorded practice sessions led by her. It also includes an assessment video at the end of the week to help parents know if their student is ready to go to the next week of video instruction and practices. Students are allowed to go to the next level only when they meet with one of our live instructors to verify their good progress and give them tips for development. |
Thorough Elementary Music program |
It is a full elementary beginning music program that will take you all the way to early intermediate music study and fully prepare you for the intermediate instruction program of your choice, either with Practice Monkeys, or any private music tutor. Depending on the student, SarahStrings houses between 2 and 5 years of music instruction per instrument. |
Private Lessons available |
Sarah Strings students also get access to private lessons with Practice Monkeys teachers whenever they wish to purchase them. There is always live help available. |
Same Accelerated Suzuki Program |
The repertoire in the Suzuki Method is accelerated, which is to say that students reach greater capacity in technique in a shorter amount of pieces than traditional method books. This is extremely desirable for a student's education because students who are capable of accelerating their education in their natural abilities are not held back by hundreds of songs. The space between Beginner Songs and Early Intermediate Songs is only 1 book, as opposed to 4 or 5 books in traditional methods. Students who are capable of naturally accelerating their music studies, do. And those who don't naturally accelerate, also accelerate their learning because the the music and method itself helps them to accelerate their education. Suzuki music education is truly a beautiful thing to see work out in all student's lives, no matter the amount of natural ability with which they were born. Suzuki believed that all people are capable of making beautiful music. This is absolutely true.

Ear-Training and Music Reading |
As is consistent with Dr. Suzuki's violin teaching method, we guide the students in Sarah Strings to develop a strong ear for the violin in the early Levels of our program. This is hard work! As our students persevere, they gain an ear connection to their instrument that is not only necessary for accurate intonation, but also provides them with ease of playing and ability to improvise at an early stage. This is the genius of ear-training in the Suzuki Method. Music reading is developed in each Level to allow for students to connect their ears to their eyes and learn to decode the musical score. |
How is SarahStrings different from Practice Monkeys?
Practice Monkeys is a live lesson platform and SarahStrings was developed as an entirely pre-recorded lesson platform. The most notable difference is that live classes in Practice Monkeys are different every day, and individualized for the students in class. SarahStrings pre-recorded videos are developed for a non-live, individual student setting that is monitored by a parent. The lessons in SarahStrings are organized by Week while the lessons in Practice Monkeys are organized by Topic in the Treehouses.
